Unspoken by Helena Harte

This is Book 3 in the Windy City Series. I have read the first 2 recently so when number 3 came out I got straight to it. Whilst this is a very different book from the other 2, I really like angsty books that are not all love and kisses.
Unspoken is the story of Janie and Solo – (Solo is the ex army member of Gabe’s garage crew). They are already married when we meet them in Sanctuary (book 1) and they have 18 month old triplets. A sure recipe for stress.
At the start of the book they are separated and not only do we not know why Janie left, but Solo also doesn’t know. We do find out (before Solo) and then we understand the stress they are under.
This story involves the Wicked Witch of the West (also known as Janie’s mother) and there’s a potential for the triplets to be removed from their care. That’s a stressful process for all parents (and extended family members).
What this book manages really well – is to hold a level of anxiety within the words for the reader – as well as the characters. I had to remind myself it was fiction! All of this series has some aspect of mental health, stress and less than picture perfect families and relationships – and it excels with it.
I wish book 4 was out – but I can wait.
