This is the latest in the Rainbow series – and is really good.
I like a series so I can get to know the characters – the series doesn’t focus on the same people all the way through – but they are there , living their lives in the local area so feature in the stories. This story features Saskia from the (not in Cornwall) book The Rainbow Lens. You don’t have to have read all the books to enjoy and understand it, but you should – because they are good and knowing about all the other characters (and of course Saskia’s own history in The Rainbow Lens) will enhance your reading experience.
These books not only entertain me, they all educate me in ways I hadn’t thought I needed. Mental health is written into the stories. Everybody has mental health – we all experience the ups and downs of life which can bring various issues into our lives – and it is refreshing to see it portrayed with openness and honesty as just part of everyday life.
Now on to Saskia’s story. She deserved her own story to redeem herself from her awful behaviour in The Rainbow Lens. She had some soul searching to do – and she certainly does it. She looks at her not only her homophobic attitudes and behaviour but also admits to having eating disorder issues (which she thought had been resolved).
I enjoyed this story – and the whole series to date.
