The Miseducation of Caroline Bingley by Lindz McLeod

I loved this.
Some tinkering at the edges for the characters of both Caroline Bingley and Georgiana Darcy – but that is absolutely ok.
I was going to say that there was some fictionalising of the characters from the original, but as that is also fiction that makes it sound as if I thought Pride and Prejudice was a work of non-fiction!
I love it when I know a character’s background and motivation as I already know them – whether they are within a series or because they have their own spin off. It’s like catching up with old friends.
And watching them find themselves and then each other is highly entertaining.
As usual there is a lot of research and a thorough knowledge of Austen’s characters. Additional research including the opera, music and composers of the time.
And of course we experience Caroline’s feelings as she tells her family of her wish to live her life with Georgiana. Her mother, who does not sound like a woman whose company I would enjoy, reacts as you can imagine. The brothers though, they react as you would want them to.
I rather enjoy sapphic historical stories – I dare say I will read more.
