This is a fun story. It’s an age gap, fake romance, fall for your best friend’s mum sort of story. At times it is almost farcical – which undoubtedly adds to the festive fun of the book.
You can tell it is not set in the UK – there is snow and she gets in the car and goes to the shops!
There is an ever increasing cast list as the book goes on – and I guess it is also just like an everyday family get together. Zac doesn’t want to come out to his family and disappoint them – especially his dad (who is himself married to a man). Everybody knows he is gay and is just waiting for him to tell them. After all he has a gay father, brother, best friend and mother – he was he going to disappoint?! He takes his roommate Iris home for Christmas – luckily when he reunites with a high school boyfriend she had someone else to keep her occupied.

This is a fun read – and best read in December of each year.
