This is Book 4 in this series.
It might have worked as a standalone, but I read the first chapter then wanted to know more so went back and read the first 3 books before continuing. I should say when I got into the first 1, the next 3 only took me 2 days.
This is a series featuring Secret Service Agent Ryan O’Connor – written by a former Secret Service Agent – so expect action and reality – not all of it pleasant.
This story jumps straight in to Ryan being in deep cover (I lack the technical knowhow of Ryan – so she is living as her undercover character ), something she is not trained for. You’d like to think that wouldn’t happen in reality but who knows.
You would also like to think that someone who had been in the news before and all over the press wouldn’t be the ideal pick for the job!
Allison is not happy when she tracks Ryan down.
It’s topical though – she’s investigating a group of national patriots – people who are ideologically opposed to much of what makes life great – diversity.
As seems to be the norm for Ryan, she ends up in the hospital. She doesn’t ever follow the rules though – but she is the good guy and will come out ok at the end.
These books are action packed – and full of interesting scenarios. They also depict secret service staff as humans – the full variety of them including arseholes.
I would definitely recommend reading this series – start at Book 1 though and you won’t be able to resist reading the lot.
