This fun book is a sequel to Stars Collide – as in one of the main characters in this book was a bodyguard in Stars Collide. You do not need to have read it for this one to make sense though. But you should – as you will enjoy it.
This belongs to the celebrity/bodyguard trope – but with a slight difference. It also throws in a fake dating story line. The story line is pretty faithful to the ideas – but it has a grounding of fear and showing how people can struggle after a major traumatic event happens to them. Natalie (Hollywood film star) actually has a real need for a bodyguard and recruits a new female bodyguard to pose as her girlfriend so as not to alert people to her fear and additional need for protection. The inevitable happens.
The writing of the fear and emotions experienced lift the book from ‘just another celebrity/bodyguard story’ as does the inclusion of a fair amount of stargazing!
It is a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours – something predictable and light – but not boring and trite.
