Well. This book is the second in series (will there be more?) by Chloe Keto. It is a novella so is quite short.
This one features Marion, a 55 year old and Gina, a 45 year old. I liked the fact that the story centred on ‘older’ women as so much of sapphic literature tends not to – apart from age gap romance. The characters discuss whether 10 years is an age gap as one of them is of course a sapphic romance writer!
It addresses the issue of bereavement – as in romance books the only reason a person is single at that age is because the love of their life has died. But they discuss their past history and relationships, and normalise ‘messy’ lives and meeting someone and falling in love in your 50s.
It is also set in December so is a Christmas book too – yet I read it in March and it didn’t feel odd.
I really enjoyed it.
