Firstly, I love the premise of these books. The seven deadly sins and the Cardinal building. It’s a clever concept really well executed. And it’s erotica so it is full of sex. But also the characters have depth and feel like real people – even if they are immortal.
There are a few things that puzzle me though – and these do not affect the excellence of the stories.
If they are immortal and do not age how do they cope with the ‘government’ side of identity – a birth certificate, driving licence etc. How did they set up the Cardinal? The kind of questions that pop up and totally do not need an answer. And how do they not get annoyed when someone pops up in your head having a conversation with them?!
Anyway – this story disturbed me. I was vaguely aware of the content warning but I think I had meant to read the book and seen it but then read something else and came back to this after about a week. It then disturbed me throughout the book. Not enough to make me stop reading it but enough for me to need to read it to make sure everything was going to be ok.
Aside from being disturbing I thought it was empowering. It is of course still erotica, so there is plenty of spice.
The epilogue
There is a birthday celebration and a proposal.
There is also a set up for the next book (even more than a lot of this book already is) when an 11 year old boy is told to call Harry if he is in trouble (telepathically)
