This story is a variation of the stranger in the snow, 1 cabin, 1 bed and a double booked hotel room theme of story. Oh, as well as the ‘my relative won big on the lottery and gave me a chunk of cash’ Only by being a bit of several things it makes it rise above it and is better.
Both Steph and Cara think they are going to have a peaceful couple of weeks in a remote cabin in Scotland. Steph because it belongs to her sister and she told her it was free; Cara because she booked it. When they realise that both of them think they should be there, it is snowing and Steph’s van has broken down so they have to make the best of it.
There are moments of humour, many misunderstandings and some miscommunication. There is also a lot of snow – and reading about it made me feel quite cold.
They work together to have a nice time as they are stuck – so much so when one of them is able to leave they decide to stay for New Year. They do of course share a bed and pow – would you know they are soon ripping each others clothes off. That is after making sure that one of them isn’t a chain saw massacre waiting to happen.
They part at the end of the break – both sad to say goodbye, but of course miscommunication means that they are making assumptions about what the other wants etc. They are reunited later and all is well.
There is of course an epilogue – where they chose to live together rather than having to remember which item of clothing is at which address. They choose Whitstable – who wouldn’t.
