Landers-Letts, Pip – The Weight of What Was

This book is a remarkable debut.
The story is intricately woven in and about the lives of twins Anna and Rupert, Grace, and grandma. It goes back and forth in time, tracing the lives, loves and interactions between all of them. The emotions contained in this book are synonymous with the highs and lows of their relationships. When they soar happiness shines through the page. When they dip, they plummet and you can feel the heartbreak.
The actual storyline at times made me question which timeline I was in. I’m not sure which character deserved the most empathy – they were all hit by fate and poor previous decision making at times.
And of course with all of this happening, in walks cancer. More emotion pouring onto the page.

This is such a good book – it makes you actually feel the emotion that the characters experience.
