I had been reluctant to read this as I thought I would not enjoy it – I am not overly keen on friends to lovers books. But I should have had more faith in Claire Highton-Stevenson’s story telling ability – because it was so much better than I imagined.
It made me wince a few times – but that was in sympathy with the characters which is surely the point.
I think the fact that no one was surprised when they got married and comment on how they look at each other gives the story depth by referencing their shared history, as do the familiar faces and places from other books.
This is quite a short book but it is definitely worth reading.
