I’m not a natural follower of combat sports – I don’t even really know how to refer to them. This book has plenty of fighting in it – all organised but not all legal.
There is blood, guts and injuries galore. All of which is really not my thing. I am well know for being squeamish. Maybe this wasn’t the book for me to read then.
But having read it I would disagree.
I now have a better understanding of fighting. I’m still not sure what UFC is.
What I do know though is that I enjoyed this book. The fighting takes second place to the characters and their engagement and interactions and takes the grim punches and beatings and elevates it to a book about relationships, honour, commitment and love with a side serving of professional sport.
Give it a try – you may be surprised.
