I had absolutely no idea what to expect with this book. Sapphic Steam punk – The only word I was sure about the meaning was sapphic. I’ve read other Ally McGuire Stuff and gave it a go.
I am so glad that I did.
I had no idea what was happening to start with but very soon figured it out – it’s another world, with whisps of the real world floating about (see what I did there) and it was delightful. But not in a cosy, fluffy type of way.
There’s pirates, and attacks, a Queen, stabbings, plots and intrigue.
And of course attraction and romance and kidnapping and of course Danger. And zeppelins.
It is set at about the turn of the 20th century and follows maps and clues, snapshots of the aristocracy, and vague memories of childhood.
There is of course an epilogue set a year later. The author seeks to ensure a Happy Ever After for the numerous people that have been important to the story.
This was such a good read.
