I used to read a lot of police procedurals – but I have steered clear for a while.
Having read this I am right back in there.
This well written, interesting, action packed and still has time for a love interest from the past popping up. It’s probably best not to bump into the woman who broke your heart 15 years ago while you are in A&E having your arse cheeks stitched up – but why the hell not.
This is the first book in the series and bodes well for future books – however DI Jo Shaw seems to be quite accident prone – will she make it to Book 2 all in one piece? *probably not*

Very entertaining, as good on the medical stuff as you would expect a paramedic to be, makes you want to read on to see what happens next.
Who is the hero of the hour? Is it DI Jo Shaw or is it the surgeon Isla Munro?
