Zimmer, Kristen – The Gravity Between Us

When I read Forbidden Girl, I made a note to read the earlier books that Kristen Zimmer has written. I even bought a copy – I usually only read on KU and books I pick up when they are promoted for free mainly via IHS.
I quite liked the premise of this book. It is quite an old book as one of the characters has a Blackberry and an ipod but I can remember life that far back.
Some of the language that the characters use remind me of when I have seen the author on X pretending to be mean and moody and not like anybody. That is just an act though as she says nice things to her friends on there all the time!
The only sort of issue I have with this book is not personal to the author as she uses the word ‘retarded’. I know Americans use the word differently to us Brits and in the world of learning disability terminology it was around in USA a lot longer than here. The word just makes me wince a bit.

This is a story about 2 best friends who are in love with each other but both are too frightened to mention it. One is a famous movie star, the other is a college student and budding musician. The being in love with your best friend thing is a popular trope. I’ve never been in love with my best friend. She will be pleased to read this.

There is an epilogue. With no mention of marriage or children.

This books reads a bit like a total fantasy, if that’s your thing. It is not my idea of fantasy, but even I was into this book.

Loved it.
