I really liked this book.
2 women started work at a company at the same time. Nic becomes a project manager and is out at work. Lee is a VP and is not out at work (thus no one but her knows she is gay). Their employer is supposed to be progressive and forward thinking.
Nic can’t work out why Lee is always critical of her. When Nic is laid off it appears they were not as progressive as she thought.
She keeps running into Lee – and that as they say is that. Cue them accidentally falling in love.
And of course the staff that made the firm non progressive all get caught out and sacked.
Things work out for them.
There is of course an epilogue.
It is 2 years later and they are doing building work
I enjoyed this book for a number of reasons.
1 – Lee is a mini ice queen at work
2 – Lee spent her childhood ‘caring’ for a sibling with a complex learning disability – this impacted on her childhood and stretched into her adulthood when her parents tried to use her sibling against her. It all worked out well in the end but it was bumpy.
3 – They lived by the ocean
4 – The number of characters that have long red hair amuses me – Lee has long read hair usually work in a braid
